Heinola Fluting Mill is looking for a responsible, courageous and ambitious candidate with high potential to assume the role of one of the mill’s Production Engineers.

We offer the selected candidate a unique opportunity to learn hands-on about safety, environmental control, energy, semi-chemical pulp and containerboard (corrugated medium) production, maintenance, people leadership and management.

The mill is aiming to be the safest, healthiest and most productive fluting mill. Stable production of high quality renewable products for our customer will highly rely on your shoulders. The Production Engineer is responsible of safety, operations, efficiency, maintenance and quality for specific part of the mill and entire production process.

During your first 18 months in this job you will participate in the Stora Enso GROW Global Trainee Programme.

Job description

Primary responsibility for a Production Engineer is to ensure working safety and execute the planned production with our skilled and experienced supervisors and operators.

In continual production as we have, operator’s maintenance rounds, preventive maintenance and planned maintenance shutdowns are playing a key role to achieve high efficiency and safety. In that area, you will work very closely with Stora Enso’s own maintenance company Efora.

Excellence of the operations are measured with number of key performance indicators. If something goes wrong, your role is to lead the root cause analysis with the team. Problem solving, troubleshooting, statistical data analysis, and optimising runs and trials are under your responsibility in your specific area of mill.

Communication, maintaining good atmosphere, people competence development and coaching are part of your daily work. You will be expected to inspire and motivate your team to best performance.

Main Responsibilities
The Production Engineer is responsible for specific part / process area of the production with the following key tasks:

  • Work safety, safety rounds, audits and instructions
  • Execution of the production plan
  • Follow-up of the product quality
  • Maintenance of the assets in co-operation with Efora
  • Production materials use and sourcing in co-operation with Sourcing Specialists
  • Budget and cost follow up
  • Problem solving and root-cause analyses
  • Action planning
  • Test runs and process optimisation
  • Feedback to initiatives made by employees related to own area of responsibility
  • Continuous improvement of the operation models and assets in co-operation with the development team
  • Required Education
    Master Degree in Energy/Pulp/Paper/Chemical Engineering or Operations Management.
    Graduation by August 2019 at the latest.
    Work Experience
    Recent graduate or maximum 2 years of relevant working experience. Working experience in production or engineering, and in people management role will be considered an advantage.
    Language Skills
    Fluent in written and spoken Finnish and English.
    Additional language skill will be considered an advantage.

    The ideal candidate is highly motivated, committed, willing to take responsibility and personally committed to making our workplace safe. He understands that working in production is not always strictly tied to calendared working hours. He is structured and systematic, works proactively and result-oriented and is willing and able to take initiative.   • Have graduated with a relevant university degree before 31.8.2019;
  • Are proficient in English;
  • Are willing to travel;
  • Have no more than 2 years of working experience after graduation;
  • Are motivated, development-minded, and up for a challenge.
